Mifos,Technology that Empowers Microfinance

The Mifos Initiative will be launched at the Global Micro-Credit Summit in Halifax, Canada, November 12-16, 2006.   

Mifos is a groundbreaking initiative, spearheaded by the Grameen Technology Center. This open source information management platform revolutionizes microfinance's approach to technology. Mifos is a collaborative, empowering industry platform that puts control of the technology in the hands of those that will use it.

 

Grameen Technology Center has established itself as a leader in driving industry-wide technology advances that help microfinance institutions (MFIs) to operate more efficiently and effectively. Mifos is its newest innovation. Like Linux, Mifos is developed by a global community of independent programmers who freely share improvements to the code.

 

Mifos is equally accessible to all MFIs around the world and can be customized as the user's needs evolve. Beta testing of the software is underway in India and a community of contributors extends across multiple continents including Africa, the USA and Asia.
